Hello! If we haven’t met yet, I hope we meet soon. I’m looking forward to meeting many of you at this year’s Common Ground Country Fair. I’ve attended the Fair several times before, but this year will be a new experience as I’ll be attending in my new role as MOFGA’s executive director.

Farm & Homestead Day at MOFGA a Success

September 1, 2018

The 7th annual Farm & Homestead Day at MOFGA was a great success! More than 450 community members participated and contributed to another wonderful skill-sharing event. The F&H Day committee especially thanks our volunteer workshop leaders for lending their time, skill and materials, as well as everyone who contributed potluck dishes, stone soup ingredients, and plants for the plant swap.

Remembering Paul Birdsall

September 1, 2018

Condolences to the friends and family of Paul Birdsall, who died in June at age 91. Birdsall, his late wife, Molly, and their two sons moved from Connecticut to Blue Hill in 1973, where, using horsepower, they revived a neglected farm. Paul and Molly were early MOFGA members and volunteers. They hosted more than 150 apprentices, volunteered at the Common Ground Country Fair, and Paul served on the boards of MOFGA, Maine Farmland Trust and Blue Hill Heritage Trust. Read more about Paul in Marada Cook’s 2005 volunteer profile, “Teaming Up with the Next Generations of Farmers.”
