Meet Jason Tessier – MOFGA Buildings and Grounds Director

June 1, 2017 – Jason Tessier, MOFGA's buildings and grounds director, previously worked for the Sheridan Corporation where he supervised and scheduled construction projects, managed employees and contractors, secured goods and services, and oversaw safety, quality control and design details. He and his family raise crops and livestock and produce maple syrup at Tessiers Farm in Skowhegan.

MOFGA Goes Solar

June 1, 2017 – On March 8, 2017, MOFGA took a giant step toward energy self-sufficiency when it flipped the energy switch to solar power at its Common Ground Education Center in Unity. With inspiration, guidance and generous financial support from Liberty-based ReVision Energy, MOFGA dramatically expanded its renewable energy infrastructure by installing a 102.08 kilowatt solar array and air source heat pumps. After almost 20 years at its home in western Waldo County, MOFGA is fulfilling its dream of becoming self-sufficient with energy.

MOFGA Welcomes the Oggún Tractor

June 1, 2017 – MOFGA welcomed a new tool this spring – the Oggún Tractor manufactured by CleBer, LLC in Paint Rock, Alabama – for work and demonstration at the Common Ground Education Center in Unity. Originally envisioned for use in Cuba, the tractor is the brainchild of former IBM employees Horace Clemmons and Saul Berenthal.

Donor Addresses Climate Change by Giving MOFGA a Charitable Gift

A long-time MOFGA member recently asked if she could establish a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) with MOFGA. I enthusiastically told her she would be establishing MOFGA's first such fund and we were grateful for her leadership. Within a few weeks the fund was set up and she transferred her gift.
