During events, we use our barns to house livestock and for educational presentations and workshops. At other times, we use the barns mainly to store equipment for the Common Ground Country Fair. In 1998, when we started building the Common Ground Education Center, we put up 4 pole barns, and an enclosed poultry barn with garage doors. The poultry barn was made possible by a generous donation from Roxanne Quimby. In the summer of 2006, we built another enclosed livestock barn -- pole-style, using trusses for the roof structure. This barn is primarily for showing rabbits and guinea pigs at The Common Ground Country Fair and will provide a great, sheltered space for workshops at other times of the year. We are also restoring a big, old, red post and beam-style barn that was on the property when we arrived here in 1998. We use that primarily for storage of equipment for the Fair now.
