By Susan McMillan - Augusta: A panel at the University of Maine at Augusta on Sunday reported that Maine's land, growing conditions and location in the Northeast make the state well-positioned for growth in agriculture. Challenges include land prices, the workforce and infrastructure to support farms, said John Piotti, executive director of Maine Farmland Trust. Orchardist Marilyn Meyerhans and farmer L. Herbert "Bussie" York were the other speakers.
