Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
The folly of big agriculture: why nature always wins
Yale Environment 360 - 4/9/2012.
By Verlyn Klinkenborg – In its short, shameless history, big agriculture has had only one big idea: uniformity. The obvious example is corn. The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts that American farmers — big farmers — will plant 94 million acres of corn this year. That’s the equivalent of planting corn on every inch of Montana.

The New York Times - 4/7/2012.
Editorial – One of the biggest challenges facing this planet isn’t simply feeding a growing population – perhaps as many as 10 billion by the year 2100. The challenge is feeding all those people as the climate changes in ways we can barely project.

Common Dreams - 4/6/2012.
Oakland, Calif. – A new study is reinforcing obstetricians’ standard warning that pregnant women should avoid exposure to pesticides in foods and weed killers because the chemicals can harm the developing fetus.

Because Monsanto has threatened to sue the state if the bill passes.
