Meet Rani and Jack Howe of Skyscraper Hill Farm in Brooks. This MOFGA certified organic farm raises Christmas trees, sold from the farm and through the Marsh River Co-op and the Belfast Co-op. By Wenonah Hauter - In a post election surprise, USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced yesterday that the People’s Republic of China had completed the necessary paperwork to certify four of its poultry processing plants to be able to export processed poultry products to the U.S. The raw poultry, however, needs to come from ‘approved sources,’ such as the U.S., Canada, or Chile.

On Thursday, November 6, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) announced the release of the new Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) insurance policy. This new policy is intended to improve on, expand, and replace the existing Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) and AGR-lite policies that have been underutilized.
