|Fishbowl Farm plans to end farmers market sales, focus on wholesale|
Portland Press Herald - 9/24/2012. By Avery Yale Kamila – After this season, Fishbowl Farm intends to end its retail market business. Since 2004, the Bowdoinham farm has been a popular vendor at the Portland and Brunswick farmers markets. It also operates a CSA subscription program. Once these summer markets close up shop around Thanksgiving, Fishbowl Farm intends to change its business model and focus on wholesale accounts for salad greens.

By Sharon Astyk – The single possible exception to the overstatement of the importance of popular books might be the claim that Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” began the environmental movement. Carson’s book hit the stores like a bomb. Most people simply had never thought about this. If a nascent environmental movement existed (it did) it all of a sudden went mainstream.

WABI-TV - 9/23/2012. By Laura Roberts – Unity: The Common Ground Country Fair brought thousands of people to Unity this weekend. The fair began Friday and wrapped up Sunday. Its claim to fame is attracting vendors from right here in Maine that specialize in organic foods and handmade products.
