MOFGA periodically updates listings for the following directories:
MOFGA-Certified Organic Farms - An interactive, searchable list.
Maine Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Directory - This is a listing of farms offering CSA shares. Most offer a full range of vegetables during the traditional growing season. A few offer other products (e.g. dairy, livestock, turkeys, blueberries) other than vegetables. Some of the vegetable farms also offer additional products or extended deliveries during the winter.
Maine Local Food Retailers and Natural Foods Stores - When MOFGA started, in 1971, folks either grew their own organic food or bought it from away. With the growth of the food coop movement in the 1970's, and the resurgence of farmers' markets, organic food has become more accessible. Now Maine is fortunate to have dozens of local food retailers and natural food stores. Because of their success and increasing consumer demand for healthy foods, now all the supermarkets offer organic options for many items, some produced here in Maine. These outlets, along with the supermarkets, are important places to influence the food system with your buying choices. Maine is also fortunate to have many pre-order cooperatives/buying clubs in communities across the state.
