Did you know...

...it takes roughly one-third of a pound of chemicals (pesticides and fertilizers) to grow enough cotton for just one t-shirt?

Welcome to the Youth Enterprise Zone and Youth Enterprise Transition Zone
of the Common Ground Country Fair!

Friday Only

Common Ground grows the future in the Youth Enterprise Zone (YEZ) and the Youth Enterprise Transition Zone (YETZ), where young entrepreneurs combine their exuberant creativity with the bounty of nature, be it metal, fiber, wood, glass, plants or food.

Come see what the talented “earth magicians” of the next generation have their hands into this year—all things hand-made, from books to beeswax candles, clothing to cutting boards, flatbreads to firestarters, jewelry to juggling balls, gnomehomes to note cards, plants to pouches, sachets to sailboat models, and wishbone mice to walking sticks. The YEZ/YETZ tent, across from the Children’s Area, buzzes with youthful spirit and creativity. Talented young entrepreneurs (ages 11 to 17 in YEZ, 18 to 22 in YETZ) test their products and skills and give you a sneak preview of the next generation of artists and craftspeople. Be at YEZ on Friday to join the fun and see the future.

The Youth Enterprise and Youth Enterprise Trasition Zone application process for the 2008 Fair is closed. Applications went out in Febuary 2008 and were due on March 21, 2008. If you would like to apply to the 2009 Fair,
please send your contact information to MOFGA.

For the Youth Enterprise Zone (ages 11 - 17)

For the Youth Enterprise Transition Zone (ages 18 - 22)
FOOD:  All food sold at the Common Ground Country Fair (including food sold in the YEZ Area!) must meet the Food Area Guidelines. Food vendors must have liability insurance as well. Group insurance is available for Common Ground food vendors. If you wish to sell food, please download the additional materials linked below for review and submission with your application.

If your enterprise makes use of cotton, MOFGA also strongly encourages you to consider going organic!  While this is not a requirement for participation in the YEZ Area, MOFGA would like to emphasize the benefits of using organic cotton and damage caused in the production of conventional cotton. Please refer to the sidebar for interesting information about the ecological, social and economic benefits of organic cotton. Thanks!
