"Perhaps the most radical thing you can do in our time is to start turning over the soil, loosening it up for the crops to settle in, and then stay home and tend them."
- Rebecca Solnit

Online ticket sales for the 2014 Common Ground Country Fair are CLOSED.

Ticket prices at the gates are increasing to help support improved services and higher operation costs. You may still buy Advance Tickets at any of the OUTLETS LISTED HERE up until Fair time.

Our Store is now closed except for memberships, donations and registrations for events and workshops so that we may focus on getting our new inventory ready for the Country Store on the fairgrounds. 2014 Fair T-shirts, tote bags, aprons and more will be available online by October 1.

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture News
MOFGA's 38th Common Ground Country Fair
MOFGA Announcements - 9/17/2014.
On September 19, 20 & 21, the Common Ground Country Fair will take place once again at the home of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) in Unity, Maine. Some 60,000 people take part in this event, which celebrates rural and sustainable living in Maine. The Fair is unique because there are no midway carnivals, fast food or games of chance. What it does offer is pure fun and entertainment in an educational context.
Vegetarian Kitchen: For vegetarians, Common Ground is the fairest of them all
Portland Press Herald - 9/17/2014.
By Avery Yale Kamila - Fair season is in full swing, and for vegetarians there is no contest when it comes to the agricultural event with the largest selection of meat-free options. The Common Ground Country Fair wins the blue ribbon for consistent veg-friendliness year after year. Hosted by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, the annual event begins Friday and runs through Sunday in Unity.
How to Make Farm-to-Table A Truly Sustainable Movement
Yale Environment 360 - 9/15/2014.
By Diane Toomey - Renowned chef Dan Barber is synonymous with the farm-to-table movement. His two New York restaurants feature organic ingredients grown or raised on nearby farms, including the one that surrounds his Hudson Valley restaurant. So it’s striking that in his new book, The Third Plate, Barber mantains that the movement he has championed hasn’t gone far enough. It has failed, he says, to create markets for the diverse crops that a sustainable farm needs to maintain a rich, healthy soil.
