Learn to prune fruit trees to encourage vigorous growth, heavy fruit set and quality fruit yield. Fruit tree experts will offer hands-on pruning experience. Collection of scion wood and storage will also be discussed. This workshop is directed at folks who haven’t pruned before or have a little experience. Instructors will discuss basic pruning practices and required tools, as well as identifying branch collars, waterspouts, fruit buds, and about branch training.

March weather can be cold and fickle; please wear layers, snow boots, and waterproofs if possible. Note that the terrain at these locations often include uneven ground, and participants will be standing and moving outside for the majority of the workshop. This event’s sliding scale registration is designed to keep the class as accessible as possible while also covering MOFGA’s costs. Recommended price for non-members is $50; recommended price for members is $40. If you would like to apply for a scholarship to attend this class, you can do so here.
