Ironwood Farm
We are a certified organic vegetable farm in the hills of central Maine. We grow eight acres of MOFGA Certified Organic vegetables that we sell to coops and small grocery stores across the state. While we take particular joy growing salad, our diverse offerings allow us to have produce for sale winter, spring, summer and fall.
As farmers, we take great pride in the quality of our produce, and the care we take of our land, and employees. We aim to create an efficient, productive and fun environment for our crew to work and grow. If you love working hard, have significant vegetable experience, and enjoy being on an efficient and skilled crew—this might be the farm for you!
Individual positions are designed to give a more in-depth farming experience than your average farm job, spread out the day-to-day responsibilities of the running the farm, and create jobs with lots of room for folks to grow as farmers. Our week’s are well organized and predictable, so new staff can to step into independent roles quickly. There is lots of opportunity for individuals who’ve spent time working on other farms to step into leadership roles here, and be compensated as such.

In season (May through Thanksgiving) we work M-F 7am-4pm. Winter work weeks are Monday-Thursday. This job starts immediately!

Job Description
This individual would play a key role in salad processing, order fulfillment and greenhouse production. This person can except to spend a couple mornings/week in the pack house processing salad, managing order fulfillment during busy pack days and spending one or two afternoons/week in the greenhouse participating in micro greens production. Beyond their individual responsibilities, this person would spend the remainder of their time working alongside their co-workers in all aspects of field production (planting, harvesting, prep). The right person for this job is super organized, has a keen eye for details and excels at following detailed procedures carefully.
Applicants who have commercial vegetable experience are strongly preferred, but it isn’t required. This is physical work, and applicants should be confident that they’ll be able to lift, bend, and stand all day. This position is a nice mix of indoor work and outdoor work, but folks should be prepared to work long days in the elements!
