2017 Seed and Scionwood Exchange a Success

June 2017

"Thousands of feet of scionwood flowed out the doors." That's how John Bunker characterized the March 2017 Seed Swap and Scion Exchange, cosponsored by MOFGA, Fedco Trees and the Maine Tree Crop Alliance.

At this prolific propagation success, more than 600 participants took home free scionwood from well over 200 fruit tree varieties, thanks to dozens of donors, and the Maine Heritage Orchard raised nearly $800 by grafting trees! Twelve tables of donated seeds added to the draw, as did Daniel MacPhee's demonstration of a low-tech seed cleaning apparatus. Thanks to all of our donors, to our wonderful presenters and demonstrators, and to our volunteers for all their help!

The Maine Tree Crop Alliance is dedicated to promoting woody plant species that can be grown for food, feed, fodder, bee forage and beneficial companion plantings.
