In December 2019, MOFGA bid farewell to our organic marketing specialist, Heather Omand, who accepted the position of associate director of Northeast SARE in Burlington, Vermont.

We also wished Diane Schivera, our organic livestock specialist, all the best as she retired from MOFGA in December.

In January 2020 MOFGA hired Wendy Watson of Belfast as its common kitchen manager and Common Ground Country Fair food liaison. Watson is a long-time MOFGA supporter with a wealth of related experience. Originally from a rural town near Boston, she has a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Lesley College/Audubon Expedition Institute and graduated from the California School of Herbal Studies. She has managed natural food stores; worked on farms, at an herb supply company and in restaurants; has catered as a chef; and worked for nonprofits as director of development and administration, alumni relations and outreach director. Watson tends a large organic garden and enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities.

Bronya Lechtman joined MOFGA for the month of January 2020 as an intern from Colby College for its Jan Plan. Lechtman helped us develop a resource for consumers to find local organic products at retail locations across the state. She also reached out to stores to help connect them with local organic producers, to learn what barriers exist to offering more local organic products and to help develop and distribute helpful resources.
