With three beautiful days, the 2019 Common Ground Country Fair passed by quickly. It’s hard to believe it’s already over. The Fair has given us sun-filled memories of community and teamwork to reflect upon and to hold close during the coming winter months.

Perhaps these are memories of volunteering in the Common Kitchen with over 30 others – of the satisfaction of working and cooking together to feed 1,000 hungry volunteers and receiving their appreciative round of applause and cheers that filled the tent. Or maybe you have memories of your child spending hours in the Children’s area jumping into the hay pile, making crafts and marching in the garden parade dressed as an eggplant. We bring so many special memories home from the Fair.

These wouldn’t happen without the 2,000 volunteers, 350 planning team members and 52,519 Fair attendees. Thank you for all your help, planning and kindness. With each helping hand and kind gesture, we build a community where we want to live and grow.

If you would like to be involved in MOFGA’s Common Ground Country Fair community year-round, we have many great ways to engage. We have monthly Fair Steering Committee meetings, volunteer workdays, and areas of the Fair that would benefit from your enthusiasm and care. Please contact our community engagement coordinator, Andrew Graham, at [email protected] or 207-568-4142 to learn about and discuss opportunities.

We’ve already started to plan the 2020 Fair. Mark your calendars: The 44th Common Ground Country Fair is September 25, 26 and 27. We hope to see you there and maybe even sooner at one of MOFGA’s educational events or volunteer workdays.

Thank you for being an important part of the community. We wish you a happy holiday season and a successful growing season. See you soon!

– April Boucher, Director, Common Ground Country Fair
